In The Office -- a U.S. adaptation of the Ricky Gervais-led British original -- characters at a paper company in Scranton, PA go ploddingly about their business under the watchful eye of an ever-present (and unseen) documentary crew. There's Jim, the likable everyman, who has a thing for receptionist-turned-sales-rep Pam. There's also Dwight, who is successful but devoid of social skills and common sense. And there's Michael Scott, the clueless regional manager.
