Two estranged sisters are brought back into each other’s orbit when a school shooting in their hometown dredges up a shared past trauma. Charlie Quinn and her older sister Sam are both attorneys, but they practice very different types of law. Charlie’s a defense lawyer like their father, Rusty. She mostly represents kids while Rusty, a polarizing figure in Pikeville, Georgia, has more unpalatable clients accused of crimes like rape and murder. Sam’s a partner practicing patent law in a big New York City firm. She fled town as a teenager after barely surviving a violent home invasion that took their mother’s life. Two decades later, Charlie is present at her old high school when the principal and a young student are murdered. Sam reluctantly answers her father’s plea to come home and help her sister. Working together to investigate what really happened at the school, Charlie and Sam uncover mysteries from their past and try to repair their sisterly bond.
