Why are Johnny and Tara not at The Traitors Season 4 Reunion Special?

The simple answer? Johnny and Tara were double-booked. According to Lisa Rinna's TikTok post on February 13, 2026, the reunion was filmed on February 12 in New York City.

While the various figure skating competitions were on a rest day February 12, 2026 at the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games, Johnny and Tara were still in the middle of their NBC Sports commentating job in Milan, Italy. With competition skating events on February 11 and February 13, there was no way for them to hop on a transatlantic flight from Italy to New York City and do their day jobs as the core figure skating commentary team for NBC's Olympic broadcast coverage.

Who are Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski to one another?

Individually, Johnny and Tara are Olympian figure skaters. At the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan, Tara attended her first Games where she won Gold, making her the youngest Olympic gold medalist in figure skating history. In 2006 and 2010, Johnny qualified and competed in two Winter Olympic games for Team USA.

It wasn't until both skaters retired and moved into broadcasting that their paths crossed and a friendship ignited. Tara Lipinski told Parade.com that the idea of combining their expertise and enthusiasm as commentator partners came before the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. "We were the ones that kind of told NBC at the time because we were doing it separately. We were like, 'Can you try us out? Can you audition us together?'  And then we went to the 2014 Olympics, and now here we are 10 years later."

How far did they get in The Traitors Season 4?

Johnny and Tara made it all the way to Episode 11, "The Finale," before being Banished back-to-back. As Johnny told host Andy Cohen on the January 20 episode of WWHL, their joint plan from before the start of filming was to downplay their 11 year friendship to the rest of the players. They didn't want to create a reason for their friendship and air-tight alliance to become an opportunity to send them home. Luckily, it worked.

Inside and outside of the game, both have said in interviews that their internal radars for ferreting Traitors were clearly broken because they were wrong about almost all of their Traitor player guesses. Even when Tara was right about Rob Rausch, she still second-guessed herself at a crucial Roundtable Elimination and Banished Natalie Anderson, instead.
