Peacock's ted Stars Tease Bad Dads, Prison Sentences & Exposed Bums(!?) in Season 2
Actors Scott Grimes, Giorgia Whigham and Alanna Ubach spill the tea about Season 2.

Creator Seth MacFarlane returns with the second season of his smash hit comedy series ted, streaming now on Peacock. It's the senior year of high school for Johnny Bennett (Max Burkholder) and right beside him in the school halls and at home is his anthropomorphic bestie, Ted (voiced by MacFarlane). The series is a prequel to MacFarlane's hit film series of the same name (the first movie and Ted 2 are also streaming on Peacock).
Aside from Johnny's goals of just graduating and getting a girlfriend, he also has to deal with his volatile father, Matty (Scott Grimes), and doting mom, Susan (Alanna Ubach). And then there's his way cooler cousin, Blaire (Giorgia Whigham), who has some compassion for his hot mess of a life.
While Season 1 of ted was wild, Season 2 is pure chaos as Johnny gets bullied, Susan gets sent to jail, Blaire confronts her deadbeat dad, and Matty shows off his bum... again. Peacock Blog recently circled up ted's cast and asked what actually surprised them when they cracked open the scripts for Season 2.

Scott Grimes talks about revealing first episode back in ted Season 2
As a Seth MacFarlane project regular, Scott Grimes told Peacock Blog there's not much that phases him anymore when it comes to MacFarlane and his writers. "All you gotta do is say yes to Seth, and he's got you," the actor said. "He's not trying to humiliate you. He's there to make everything better."
Citing an example in Season 2, Grimes said in their first episode back, the script called for him to get caught on the toilet and run out with his "bum" exposed. "That sounds fine, and then all of a sudden [Scott Michael Campbell] puts me on his shoulder," Grimes detailed. "You've got to understand something, that wasn't just my buddy picking me up and putting me on his shoulder with my bum hanging out. I'm on wires. I'm in front of that crew all day with my bum hanging out."
Grimes remembered the day MacFarlane called him about that specific bit. "He was like, 'Hey, man, you okay to show your bum again?' Because I did it in the first season, I'm like, 'Absolutely, man. If it works, if it's funny. But, I mean, if this is like a fetish for you wanting to see my bum, Seth, we gotta talk,'" he joked. "But other than that, you just say yes, and I loved it."

Also in the first episode of Season 2, Matty's brother, Bernie Bennett, shows up out of the blue, and it does not make his daughter, Blaire, happy at all. "I was a bit surprised at the scene where Blaire's dad comes into the picture," Giorgia Whigham said of her character's confrontation with her selfish dad. "I did not expect Blaire to fly off the handle as much as she did, which was awesome. It was very, very cool. I'm glad that I got that opportunity. It was really a fun day."
Later in the season, in Episode 7, "Susan Is the New Black," the family's sweet matriarch gets sentenced to jail, where she has quite the impact on her fellow ladies in the slammer.

Grimes said of Ubach's work, "You brought Susan without getting rid of that innocent, beautiful, sweet side of [her], exploring what Susan could be in the situation," he said. "You did that flawlessly this season and and took her to a whole other strong woman level."
Ubach then added, "It really was a love letter from the writers and I was so excited to explore that. Out of any show that I've done, the casting for the guest stars is so detailed and so precious. And these women that played on the show, all I had to do was just listen and answer and they just prop you up," she said of her jailhouse scene partners. "They were so wonderful. The majority of guest stars are from the theater. They hit their marks every single time. They never mess up. They're completely and totally prepared."
All eight episodes of ted Season 2 are now streaming exclusively on Peacock.
