Seth MacFarlane's hit comedy prequel series, Ted, is coming back to Peacock for a second season this March — and here's everything you need to remember from Season 1 and the movies to jump in and enjoy the ride.

How to Watch

Watch Ted Season 2 on Thursday, March 5, exclusively on Peacock.

The series fills in the back story between young Johnny Bennett (played by actor Mark Wahlberg in the films and Max Burkholder in the Peacock series) and his beloved stuffed bear, Ted (Seth MacFarlane). Set up like a dysfunctional sitcom, John has to navigate his hormones, his crazy family, and his chronically troublesome best friend, who just so happens to be a talking bear.

If you don't remember what happened in Ted Season 1 (now streaming), Peacock Blog has you covered below with a quick recap to get you up to speed for the new season, dropping early next month.

What happened in Ted Season 1?

Sweet but incredibly dorky John Bennett is suffering the humiliations of high school at John Hancock High in Framingham, Massachusetts. But at least he has the loyalty of his best friend, Ted, to dig him even deeper. In Season 1, Ted introduces Johnny to weed and porn VHS tapes, incites another Christmas miracle with Johnny's childhood toy truck, Dennis, all while navigating the embarrassment of sex ed class in the first season finale.

In "He's Gotta Have It," Johnny is obsessed with not being the only virgin at his high school, so Ted sets out to "change" his status. They inflate his fake experience history with Bethany (Charlotte Fountain-Jardim) so much that she declines being his Junior Prom date. However, Johnny dumps Ted's advice, gets honest with Bethany, and wins her back. Back at Johnny's home, they're about to get frisky when the news of O.J. Simpson's getaway chase ruins the mood. A disappointed John sits down with Ted and they create their infamous "Thunder Buddies" song.

What is Ted Season 2 about?

Ted Season 2 is all about Johnny's senior year at John Hancock High. Together, he and Ted will try even harder to erase his virgin status, smoke a lot more weed, deal with Johnny's weird mom and dad, and get to learn more of the world from Cousin Blaire.

Who is in the Ted Season 2 cast?

Blaire (Giorgia Whigham), Susan (Alanna Ubach), as Matty (Scott Grimes), John (Max Burkholder) in Ted Season 2.

The whole cast of the Ted series returns to reprise their roles for Season 2:

  • Seth MacFarlane - voices Ted the anthropomorphic teddy bear. MacFarlane is the creator of the franchise and directed both films and the entire series.
  • Max Burkholder - plays young John Bennett in his high school years.
  • Alanna Ubach - plays John's mom, Susan Bennett, the stay-at-home mom with a heart of gold.
  • Scott Grimes - plays John's blowhard dad, Matty Bennett.
  • Giorgia Whigham - plays Blaire Bennett, John's ultra liberal cousin who is living with the Bennett's as she attends Emerson College.
