What to Know About USA Network Legal Drama The Rainmaker
The truth doesn’t take sides. Lawyers do.

Court is now in session. Based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel, USA Network’s new legal drama, The Rainmaker, is headed to the small screen very soon. Previously adapted into a 1997 feature film starring Matt Damon and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, The Rainmaker is getting the TV treatment with a star-studded ensemble leading the charge.
Here’s everything you need to know about the series – including a first look at the official trailer.
When does The Rainmaker premiere?
The Rainmaker premieres Friday, Aug 15 at 10p ET/PT on USA Network. You can watch a sneak peek exclusively on Peacock.
How can I watch The Rainmaker on Peacock?
Episodes of The Rainmaker drop on Peacock one week after they air on USA Network. The first episode will be available to stream Friday, Aug 22 on Peacock.
What is The Rainmaker about?
Inspired by Grisham’s novel, The Rainmaker follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Callaghan), who is fresh out of law school and eager to prove himself. The rookie attorney goes head-to-head with courtroom lion Leo F. Drummond (John Slattery), as well as his law school girlfriend Sarah (Madison Iseman).
Rudy, along with his boss Jocelyn “Bruiser” Stone (Lana Parrilla) and her disheveled paralegal Deck (P.J. Byrne), uncover two connected conspiracies surrounding the mysterious death of their client’s son. The cast is rounded out by Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, and Robyn Cara.
"What is it about this story that keeps drawing people in? Maybe it’s the David-and-Goliath legal thriller, the dangerous romance, or the coming-of-age story,” showrunner Michael Seitzman said. “For me, above all, it’s the characters. They jumped off the page in John’s book and were a joy to expand upon in our show. Not to mention, Milo Callaghan, who plays Rudy Baylor, is your next crush.”
Is there a trailer for The Rainmaker?
The official trailer for The Rainmaker debuted in June.
As the trailer reveals, Rudy is fired after he and Leo butt heads (and after Rudy gets into a fight) on his first day at the firm. Rudy soon lands a job working for Leo’s rival, Bruiser, and things quickly snowball from there. With offices headquartered at an old taco restaurant, Rudy discovers that Bruiser’s way of practicing law is very different from the corporate, buttoned-up environment on the other side of town.
Of course, Rudy’s first high-profile case is nothing short of fireworks. “If you want to screw the people who screwed our client, what are you willing to do to be a rainmaker?” Bruiser asks Rudy.
