What is The Miniature Wife about?

A tiny Lindy (Elizabeth Banks) pouts as Les (Matthew Macfadyen) holds a little microphone up to her on The Miniature Wife Season 1.

The series is, at its heart, about a marriage — but The Miniature Wife adds just the right amount of sci-fi energy, heart, and whimsy to take a tried-and-true formula and transform it into something audiences have never seen before.

As scientist Les Littlejohn (Macfadyen) and author Lindy Littlejohn (Banks) navigate their imbalanced relationship, Les accidentally shrinks his wife — who already feels minimalized in their marriage — down to six inches in height. This, of course, poses a whole new set of problems as they're forced to confront their issues in her new pint-sized reality.

Peacock's official description gives clues on what fans should expect:

In this relationship dramedy about a couple struggling with the imbalance of power in their marriage, a husband (a scientist) makes his wife (a novelist with writer’s block) feel figuratively small and unheard. Then, he accidentally shrinks her to six inches tall so now she’s literally small and unheard as the metaphor becomes real. This is an exploration of the fragility of love and ambition, cloaked in the absurdity of its premise. But at its core, it’s a love story and a remarriage story. As they struggle to navigate the sobering truth of her new, miniature reality, they are forced to confront whether their marriage -- and their love -- can survive. Perhaps, miniaturization is the epic reset these two needed to tackle the biggest crisis of their lives and fall in love all over again.

In other words, it's a love story with one *little* problem.

Banks (The Hunger Games, Migration) and Macfadyen (Succession) are hardly strangers to the world of comedy, and the pairing of the two actors is a match made in heaven. Even if their characters' situation in The Miniature Wife is… less than ideal.
