The 2000s ​gave us everything from mystical superheroes and​ engaging animated tales to soaring romantic dramas and raunchy comedies — all while ushering in a new millennium. Take a seat on your glide sofa and stream these quintessential 2000s movies on Peacock. 

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)

Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) discovers he's a wizard on his 11th birthday and is accepted into an elite wizarding academy, Hogwarts. He learns of his parents' magical past and tragic death at the hands of Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). After befriending fellow Hogwarts students Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), the trio uncover a plot involving the Sorcerer's Stone, which Voldemort wants so he can return to power. Harry, Ron, and Hermione must use their wizarding skills to protect the stone in the first installment of the Harry Potter series.

Donnie Darko (2001)

Apocalyptic visions plague a troubled teenager named Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal) after he narrowly escapes a bizarre accident. Guided by a monstrous rabbit named Frank (voiced by James Duval), Donnie begins to uncover the hidden truths about his suburban town and the world's impending end. It’s a family affair as Gyllenhaal’s real-life sibling, Maggie Gyllenhaal, plays one of his sisters.

Shrek ​(2001)

Grumpy ogre Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) finds his​ peaceful swamp overrun by fairytale creatures who have been banished by the evil Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow). To reclaim his solitude, Shrek reluctantly embarks on a quest with​ a fast-talking Donkey (Eddie Murphy) to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) from a dragon-guarded castle, hoping Farquaad will return his swamp to normal. ​It's ​a journey filled with humor and unexpected twists as Shrek and Fiona discover a deeper connection, challenging their preconceived notions of beauty and true love.

Wedding Crashers (2005)

Wedding Crashers follows John Beckwith (Owen Wilson) and Jeremy Grey (Vince Vaughn), two charismatic divorce mediators who crash weddings for fun, until John falls for Claire Cleary (Rachel McAdams), throwing their playbook into disarray. With Christopher Walken and Isla Fisher rounding out the cast, it’s a raunchy rom-com full of laughs, lies, and unexpected love.

Mamma Mia! (2008)

Based on the hit musical and set on a sun-drenched Greek island, Mamma Mia! follows bride-to-be Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) as she secretly invites three men (played by Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, and Stellan Skarsgård) from her mother Donna’s (Meryl Streep) past, in hopes of finding out which one is her father. Bursting with ABBA hits, heart, and hilarity, it’s a feel-good musical about love, family, and finding yourself.

Jurassic Park III (2001) 

In Jurassic Park III, Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) is lured back to the dino-infested Isla Sorna by wealthy couple Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Téa Leoni) under false pretenses. What begins as a quick flyover turns into a fight for survival against deadly raptors, a terrifying Spinosaurus, and a whole lot of bad decisions.

Erin Brockovich (2000)

Based on a true story, Erin Brockovich stars Julia Roberts as a determined single mother who, with no legal training, uncovers a massive environmental scandal involving contaminated water and a powerful utility company. With grit, wit, and an unstoppable drive, Erin takes on the system and wins.

Scooby-Doo (2002) 

In this live-action mystery-comedy, the Mystery Inc. gang — Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Velma (Linda Cardellini), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), and, of course, Scooby-Doo - reunite to investigate scary goings-on at a haunted resort on Spooky Island. Packed with monsters, mayhem, and meta-humor, it’s a groovy ride full of nostalgia and Scooby Snacks.

Georgia Rule (2007)

Rebellious teenager Rachel (Lindsay Lohan) is sent to spend the summer with her no-nonsense grandmother, Georgia (Jane Fonda), in a small Idaho town, much to the dismay of her high-strung mother, Lilly (Felicity Huffman). As family secrets surface, the three generations of women are forced to confront the past, rebuild trust, and redefine love on their own terms.
