What is Wicked: For Good about?
Picking up a year after the "Defying Gravity" conclusion to Wicked, Oz has gone through many changes. Elphaba (Erivo) is now feared across the land because of the constant propaganda campaign directed at her by the Wizard of Oz (Goldblum) and Madame Morrible (Yeoh). Glinda (Grande) is a tacit enabler to their "Wicked Witch" discourse, as she's let herself become Morrible's PR tool, paraded around as "Glinda the Good" in opposition to the "evil" Elphaba.
The once best friends are estranged, as Elphaba works alone in the shadows to find a way to reveal the Wizard's nefarious plan to enslave the animals of Oz. The unexpected arrival of Dorothy Gale (Bethany Weaver) into Oz via a cyclone will force Elphaba, Glinda, and Fiyero (Bailey) to confront their true desires and to make bold moves to correct the wrongs happening throughout Oz. And the two women will once again fight for one another and their friendship, no matter the outcome.
Are there new songs in Wicked: For Good?
Yes, there are two brand-new songs created for the film by Wicked composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz. The first is "No Place Like Home," sung by Erivo's Elphaba to the frightened animals escaping from Oz. And the second is "The Girl in the Bubble," sung by Grande's Glinda to herself when she realizes that she's allowed herself to be used by Morrible and Oz, and that she can't do it anymore.
