How to Watch Leeds United v Liverpool: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time, and More
Leeds host Liverpool in Matchweek 15 of Premier League.
Peacock’s Premier League action continues when Liverpool visit Elland Road this weekend as they look to get their title charge back on track against a Leeds United team that defeated Chelsea on Wednesday.
Leeds United v. Liverpool
After narrow defeats in back-to-back games against two of the league’s best in Aston Villa and Manchester City, Leeds continued their recent run of impressive performances with a 3–1 victory over title challengers Chelsea. They now sit outside the relegation zone in 17th place, three points ahead of West Ham, who have a game in hand, in 18th. With a fourth game in a row against teams that finished in the top six on the table last season, Leeds will look to pull off another upset against a Liverpool side that has been struggling this year. To take something from this game, the Whites will rely on their forward duo of Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to continue their goalscoring form. Both are new arrivals to the club from this summer and have combined to score five of the team’s last seven goals. Nmecha is the club’s top goalscorer this season with four goals in the Premier League, closely followed by Calvert-Lewin with three. Providing them service will be midfielders Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach. Tanaka was an integral part of the Leeds team that won the Championship title and secured promotion to the Premier League last season. He scored against Chelsea on Wednesday and will be pivotal in winning the midfield battle over Liverpool on Saturday. Stach, on the other hand, joined the club over the summer and has contributed one goal and two assists so far this year. Rounding out the midfield is captain Ethan Ampadu whose work rate will be vital in jumpstarting the counter against Liverpool. Defensively, Leeds have struggled to keep clean sheets of late. After two clean sheets in their first three games, the Whites have not kept one since, conceding 12 goals in their last five games. With Premier League experience in Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, Leeds will need to be more stout against a potent Liverpool attack. Elland Road is a difficult stadium to play at for away teams, so Leeds will be eager to use the atmosphere of their fans to start this game with intensity and attack Liverpool from the start.
After an impressive 1–0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League in early November, Liverpool have followed up that performance with one win in five matches in all competitions. That run of games included back-to-back 3–0 defeats to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, along with a shocking 4–1 defeat at Anfield to PSV in the Champions League. The Reds are now unbeaten in their last two Premier League matches, but Arne Slot’s men have fallen to 8th place in the table, a whopping 11 points behind Arsenal in 1st. This match will be a tough test for Liverpool, but if they hope to get their season back on track, it is a must win. The Reds have struggled to score recently, with only five goals in their last six matches in all competitions. Summer signing Alexander Isak finally opened his Premier League account with a goal against West Ham last Sunday, and he will be eager to get his name on the scoresheet in this one. Star man Mohammed Salah has been benched by Slot in Liverpool’s last two matches and has not scored or assisted since a Nov 1st victory over Aston Villa. With Florian Wirtz also struggling with zero goals or assists in the Premier League, Cody Gakpo has truly stepped up for Liverpool this season. Gakpo leads the club in both goals (tied with Salah at four) and assists this season for the Reds and his form has been crucial in helping Liverpool win games. Liverpool boast one of the best front lines in the league with plenty of talent, so Slot will be eager to figure out what is going wrong. Defensively, Liverpool have kept one clean sheet in their last five matches in all competitions. Summer signings Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have struggled to adapt to their new home, while the once impenetrable partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate has shown signs of fragility. Liverpool will need to weather an early storm from Leeds, but if they can survive the opening 20 minutes, they’ll look to dominate possession and take all three points from this one.
