How can you watch Arsenal vs. Liverpool on Thursday, January 8?

Peacock's exclusive live coverage of Arsenal vs. Liverpool on Thursday, January 8 starts at 2 p.m. ET with a preview of the upcoming game, before the match kicks off live at 3 p.m. ET.

Florian Wirtz of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's first goal with teammates Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

Declan Rice -- arguably Arsenal’s, if not the league’s, player of the season so far -- has been in fine form for the Gunners this year. His two goals against Bournemouth proved to be enough to give Arsenal the three points on Saturday and his steady presence in midfield has been essential for Mikel Arteta’s style of play. Captain Martin Ødegaard looks to have finally settled in this season after an extended period on the sidelines due to injury; he has a goal and two assists in his last three games and the Gunners will continue to rely on his creativity to break down opposing defenses. Viktor Gyökeres has performed well this season and his hold-up play and physicality have been important for the Gunners. However, he will be looking to get on the scoresheet against the Reds and find some goalscoring form for the second half of the year. Defensively, Arsenal is tied with Manchester City for nine clean sheets this season, but Arteta’s men have not kept a clean sheet in their last four matches in all competitions. They will look to be stout against a dangerous Liverpool attack led by Hugo Ekitike. If the Gunners can keep Ekitike at bay and win the midfield battle, they’ll believe they can take all three points from this one and further solidify their challenge for the title.

After a rough period in the season from late September to late November that included nine losses in all competitions, Liverpool seems to have found their form again. Arne Slot’s men are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions, vaulting the Reds to 4th place in the Premier League table, three points ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United in 5th and 6th, respectively. Liverpool is fresh off a 2-2 draw against Fulham on Sunday where a 97th minute screamer from Fulham’s Harrison Reed stole two points from the Reds. Arne Slot be frustrated with the end result from that match, and will look to get back to winning ways against the Gunners in order to close the gap between them and Aston Villa in 3rd.

With Mohammed Salah still away on international duty competing for Egypt in the African Cup of Nations and Alexander Isak out for an extended period due to a broken leg, Slot will have his attacking options limited for the team’s trip to the Emirates. Summer signing Hugo Ekitike has also been added to the injury list, sitting out the Reds’ match against Fulham because of a hamstring issue. His status for Thursday is still unclear, but if he is deemed unfit to play, Slot will likely turn to Cody Gakpo to lead the line. Gakpo did score against Fulham on Sunday, but his preferred position is off the left. Supporting Gakpo will likely be Florian Wirtz and Dominik Szoboszlai. After struggling to adjust to the Premier League, Wirtz has two goals and an assist in his last four matches. Liverpool will need his playmaking abilities to break down a strong Arsenal defense. Szoboszlai has been one of the Reds’ most consistent players this season with Slot utilizing his versatility to deploy him at right back, right wing, and in the center of midfield. With Salah gone, Szoboszlai will likely operate off the right hand side. Defensively, Liverpool has three clean sheets in their last six matches in all competitions. The Reds will need to be alert on set pieces and be wary of Arsenal’s press. If Slot’s men can survive the Gunners’ early onslaught and grow into the game, they have the talent to take points from this match.
