The 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony will feature musical performances, dancers, and more

Set at Milan’s iconic San Siro Stadium, the 2026 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony on February 6 will be a star-studded event filled with performances by Mariah CareyAndrea Bocelli, Pierfrancesco Favino, Laura Pausini, and The Paper star Sabrina Impacciatore.

You'll also see several familiar faces as NBC's coverage will be led by NBC Sports commentator Terry Gannon, along with Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White. “The Olympics have been such a huge part of my life, and to return in this new role — celebrating the athletes, the energy, and the incredible backdrop of Italy — is truly an honor,” White said in a statement. "I know what that moment means when the world is watching, and I can’t wait to help bring that magic to everyone at home.”

The Opening Ceremony will also feature traditional elements such as the parade of athletes, playing of the national anthem, and the lighting of the Olympic cauldrons, as well as hundreds of volunteer performers who've been rehearsing for months.

Months before the Games, Gannon teased on TODAY that spectators are really in for a treat this year. “I can tell you it’s the biggest Winter Olympics ever, that's what's so exciting," he said. "It's not one, but it takes two cities to host." And it begins with the Opening Ceremony!
