The 2026 Oscar nominations have been announced and actress Emma Stone is up for two Academy Awards — this time, for Best Actress in the dark comedy Bugonia, which is also nominated for Best Picture. As a producer of the black comedy film, she could also pick up an Oscar if the move wins Best Picture.
This year's round of Oscar nominations gives Stone seven total nodes throughout her career so far, but has the 37-year-old ever won a coveted Academy Award before?

How many Oscars does Emma Stone have?
Stone has two previous Oscar wins, both for Best Actress. Her first win came in 2017 for her timeless portrayal of Mia in La La Land opposite Ryan Gosling. Stone came out on top in the category, beating stiff competition from Isabelle Huppert, Ruth Negga, Natalie Portman, and Meryl Streep.
"To the women in this category… you are all so extraordinary, and I look up to you and I admire you more than I can put in words. It has been the greatest honor just to stand alongside you,” Stone said during her acceptance speech.
Stone won her second Oscar for Best Actress in 2024 for Poor Things, in which she played a woman brought back to life in Victorian London by a mad scientist.
Stone revealed in a January 2024 story in The Wrap how challenging her role in Poor Things was when she first started preparing for it, since she played someone who was brought back to life with the brain of an unborn child.
"I thought this was an incredibly difficult role at first,” she explained. “It felt really complex and really challenging. And then I realized that the challenge was actually her simplicity. In a way, she’s the simplest role that I’ve ever played, just because it required stripping away rather than adding to."

While Stone's two Oscar wins are impressive enough on their own, nothing would be more satisfying than adding another trophy to her mantle. In Bugonia, Stone plays Michelle Fuller, a pharmaceutical company CEO kidnapped and tortured by two conspiracy theory-obsessed men who are convinced that she is an alien hellbent on destroying Earth.
The film, released in the United States in October of 2025, also stars Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis, and is based on the 2003 South Korean film Save the Green Planet!

Stone's Bugonia nominations mark the second time that she was nominated for both Best Actress, and as a producer in the Best Picture category, with the first instance of this happening for 2023's Poor Things.
Her two Oscar nods for Bugonia made Stone the youngest woman ever to earn seven Oscar noms. Meryl Streep previously held that record.
