What to look for in Peacock NBA Monday's March 23 games
San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat
The Spurs are one of the hottest teams in the league, and they've been that way pretty much since the season started. They're second in the West behind the Oklahoma City Thunder, but even the defending champs have struggled to beat them, and they've managed dominance both at home and on the road. Like the Thunder, they've already clinched a playoff berth, so all that's left is to make it through the rest of the season without major injuries and look ahead to the postseason.
They'll face a Heat squad that features a red-hot Bam Adebayo -- who just recently scored the second-most points in a single game in the history of the NBA -- aiming to improve the team's playoff prospects. The Heat are hovering in Play-In Tournament territory, but the margins in the East are so razor-thin that the right combination of wins could propel them to an automatic berth in a matter of days. A tough win over the Spurs at home would go a long way to achieving that goal.
Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks
In the second game of the night, we'll see an injured Warriors squad -- with Steph Curry, Moses Moody, and Seth Curry on the bench -- just hoping to secure their Play-In spot. Right now, they're in a battle with the Clippers and Trail Blazers for the last three Play-In spots, so the more they can win right now, the better off their playoff positioning will be.
They'll face a Mavericks squad also plagued by injury (Kyrie Irving is out until next season), who might not come close to touching the postseason, but could act as a spoiler for other teams. A win over the Warriors at home could make a difference in Golden State's fortunes, while also giving rookie Cooper Flagg and the rest of the Mavs crew a little bit of a boost on their way to rebuilding in the offseason.
