The Prince of Egypt (1998)

A classic musical perfectly suited to celebrate the Easter season, DreamWorks Animation's The Price of Egypt won the Academy Award for Best Song, "When You Believe," performed by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. All the songs in the film were written by Wicked/Wicked: For Good's Stephen Schwartz.

An animated adaptation of the Bible's Book of Exodus, the film follows the extraordinary life of Moses (voiced by Val Kilmer) an Israelite orphan raised within the Egyptian royal family. He becomes a prince of Egypt, but then leaves to accept his fated role as a prophet, chosen by God, to lead his people out of bondage, across the Red Sea to the Promised Land. Co-voicing with Kilmer is an A-list of talent including Ralph Fiennes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Sandra Bullock, Jeff Goldblum, and Danny Glover.

Noah (2014)

One of director Darren Aronofsky's unexpected gems, Noah draws its narrative from the Book of Genesis and the Book of Enoch, and their stories about the man who foretold the global flood. Russell Crowe gives a memorable performance as the humble father and husband plagued by visions he doesn't understand. He seeks counsel, and along the way becomes known as a messenger serving the Creator. Along with his family, he collects followers who believe in his warnings about a flood, and they help him build an ark to preserve life in the aftermath. This biblical classic gets updated with impressive visual effects and a message for our times. Noah also stars Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, and Anthony Hopkins.
