Aston Villa vs. Liverpool is Peacock’s featured Premier League match of the week!

Cody Gakpo of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team's second goal with teammates Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez.

Winless in their last three Premier League matches, Aston Villa currently sits in 5th place in the Premier League table, four points in front of Bournemouth in 6th. Unai Emery’s men are set to play Freiburg in the Europa League Final next week with a win guaranteeing Champions League qualification for next year. However, the Villans can also achieve Champions League qualification with a win against Liverpool on Friday. It will be interesting to see if Emery chooses to rotate the squad in this one, but given that this is Villa’s final home game of the season, he may want to end with a bang in front of the home support.

Level on 59 points with Aston Villa but ahead on goal difference, Liverpool is in 4th place in the Premier League table. A win against Aston Villa on Friday will also guarantee Champions League qualification for Arne Slot, so the Reds will be eager to claim all three points in this one. In what has been a disappointing season for Liverpool, ensuring Champions League qualification for next season will be crucial for Slot, as he hopes to keep his job ahead of next season. It is unclear if Mohamed Salah will be fit to play in this one, giving the Egyptian only one more chance to feature for the Reds before he leaves the club this summer.

With the Europa League Final and the FA Cup Final impacting who can qualify for Europe next season, both Everton and Sunderland will strive to win their final two matches to give themselves a shot at making it. At the same time, Wolves host a Fulham team that is also in the European qualification mix, level on 48 points with Sunderland. With Wolves already being relegated, Marco Silva will be eager to claim all three points and increase his team’s chances at European football for next season.

Peacock’s final match in the 10 a.m. slot is Brentford hosting Crystal Palace at the Gtech Community Stadium. Speaking of European qualification, Brentford sits two points behind Brighton and four points behind Bournemouth in 8th.
