What is the Premier League?

The Premier League is the top tier of the English Football League system, meant to represent the best teams in the United Kingdom. Like other English Football League tiers, it uses promotion and relegation to move teams around, dropping some clubs to lower leagues while elevating others into the Premier League ranks if they prove worthy of the distinction. It's a hyper-competitive environment that makes for some of the most exciting soccer on the planet, and Peacock offers a robust schedule of Premier League games for your viewing pleasure.

How many teams are in the Premier League?

The Premier League features 20 football clubs from around the United Kingdom. This includes some of the best-known soccer organizations in the world, like Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and more. The league's competition format means that each club will play every other club in the league twice throughout the season, which typically runs from late summer into late spring of the following year. Rather than a simple win-loss system of ranking teams, the league operates on a points system, awarding teams points for victories and for draws, while awarding no points for losses. At the end of the season, the team with the highest point total (absent tiebreaker scenarios) wins the league championship.
