In the premiere episode of Married at First Sight Season 20, the piano-playing outdoorsman was already at the center of a shocking storyline — breaking up with a woman before marrying another. While chatting with MAFS Season 20's new expert Paul C. Brunson, Adam was forced to take care of some unfinished business before walking down the aisle. At the request of his expert, Adam called up a woman he'd been casually seeing to end things.

"Hey, this is really crazy, but I'm applying to be on Married at First Sight, and I've been interviewing for a while to go on and get matched with someone," he told the unnamed woman on the phone in Episode 1. "I won't be able to keep seeing you, and I just wanted to say I've had an awesome time with you, so I'm sorry."

"Is this a joke?" she replied, shocked, before hanging up the phone.

Adam is 31 years old and, as viewers discovered during the premiere episode, the Married at First Sight cast member is a self-professed "adrenaline junkie." Indeed, in various posts shared on Adam's Instagram (adam_dehmlow), you can see him paddleboarding, wakeboarding, and skiing

During a bachelor party with his fellow Season 20 grooms, Adam revealed he's a fan of really any outdoor lake-based activity, often riding his jet ski to play pickleball or to the gym.

One of the most illuminating moments from the Season 20 premiere was when Adam first sat down with Paul C. Brunson, who pointed out his height (Adam is 6'5"), the fact that he was an Eagle Scout as a child, and how he makes a "boatload" of money before asking him the obvious question: "Why the hell are you here?"

Adam's answer gave viewers a glimpse into what he needs in a relationship. "I wouldn't say it's tough to meet someone," he admitted. "What's tough is finding that one person that I want to spend my life with."

Based in Seattle, Adam works remotely in data analytics, explaining on MAFS that he is "completely set, financially."

"I've had my career locked in for six, seven years, making way more money than I would ever expect," he said on MAFS, later sharing although he has an amazing group of friends, he's long felt that a wife has been the missing piece of the puzzle.

Adam from Married at First Sight is a cat dad and big dog lover

On MAFS, Adam revealed that his future wife needs to love animals when expert Dr. Lisa Paz asked, "How important is it to you that your person is a cat person?"

"Definitely matters," Adam said, going on to gush about his cat named Blaze. "He's about 16, 17 pounds. He's like 20-30% Maine Coon, very relaxed cat. I'm also a very big dog person."

Adam also runs an Instagram account for his cat Blaze, which has over 55,000 followers.
