What to expect from the Gunther vs. Goldberg match
The war of words between Gunther and Goldberg started back at WWE Bad Blood 2024, when Gunther insulted Goldberg and his son, Gage, while they watched the event from the crowd.
During Monday Night Raw on June 16, Goldberg made a surprise return to call out Gunther and let him know “he’s next!” at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta.
Not only is Atlanta the same city where Gunther had his verbal confrontation with Goldberg and his son, it’s also a city Goldberg has a very special connection to.
Goldberg played college football at the University of Georgia and later played for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons. Additionally, in a famous moment in WWE history, Goldberg defeated the legendary Hulk Hogan at the Georgia Dome during WCW Monday Nitro in July 1998.
Goldberg will look to brush off some of the rust (so to speak), as this will be his first wrestling match since February 2022, when he lost to Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship.
Grab your popcorn, ladies and gentlemen, this main event should be a doozy.
