Some of the most thrilling moments at every Olympic Games come from the Swimming events. With so many medal opportunities, new champions are crowned at a fast pace and huge upsets are always just around the corner. It’s especially exciting for American fans as U.S. swimmers have dominated on the global stage. The most decorated athlete in Olympic history is Michael Phelps who racked up 28 medals, 23 of them gold, before he retired from the sport. If you root for Team USA, swimming is a must-watch at every Olympics.

Who will compete for Team USA in Swimming at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

We’re about to find out. The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials will bring the fastest swimmers from all over the country together to compete for a spot on Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. That includes big stars who’ve won multiple medals like Katie Ledecky, Caeleb Dressel, and Ryan Murphy, as well as up-and-comers hoping to make their Olympic debuts in Paris.

Where will the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Swimming take place?

The U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials, presented by Lilly, will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. During football season, that’s the home of the Indianapolis Colts. Now, it’s giving Olympic swimmers the stadium venue their sport deserves. Three temporary pools have been installed on the field. One of them is a standard 25m pool while the other two are Olympic-sized 50m pools.

Which athletes should I watch for?

Katie Ledecky is one to watch at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and likely the 2024 Paris Olympics. She’s won seven Olympic gold medals and three silver medals. She’s hoping to add even more to her total this year, competing in the 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m Freestyle events.

Caeleb Dressel, who also holds seven gold medals, is expected to compete in the 50m and 100m Freestyle events, and the 100m Butterfly. If he makes the team this year, Dressel will be competing in his third Olympic Games.

Also seeking a third Olympic berth will be four-time gold medalist Ryan Murphy, who competes in Backstroke and Medley Relay events.

Another swimmer you’ll want to keep an eye on is Kate Douglass. She made her Olympic debut in Tokyo, where she took home the bronze medal in the Women’s 200m Individual Medley. She’s likely to do much more this year after taking gold in the event at the world championships. She also medaled in both the 200m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle events at worlds. Though she came in second in the 50m Freestyle, her time of 23.97 seconds made her the fastest U.S. female swimmer in history.
