With eight games left to go in the 2025/26 Premier League season, this Sunday's Aston Villa vs. West Ham match on Peacock is a must-win for both teams, with implications at opposite ends of the table.

How to Watch

Watch NBC Sports on NBC and Peacock.

Heading into the weekend, Aston Villa currently sits in 4th place in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United in 3rd, and two points ahead of Liverpool in 5th. Chelsea is also close on their heels, only three points behind the Villans in 6th. Based on how the English teams have performed in the Champions League this season, a top five finish could be enough for Champions League qualification for next year, so Unai Emery’s men will be eager to end the season strong in a closely contested race.

At the other end of the table, West Ham currently sits in 18th place in the relegation zone, level on points with Nottingham Forest in 17th, one point behind Tottenham in 16th, and three points behind Leeds in 15th. Every game counts in the relegation battle, and the Hammers will be fighting for their Premier League lives from here on out.

What to know about Aston Villa vs. West Ham's Matchweek 31 game on Peacock

Aston Villa has lost their last three Premier League matches in a row, and have only won one Premier League game since their 2-0 victory over Newcastle at St. James’ Park in late January. Emery’s side is struggling to find their form at the most important point in the season, but a win against West Ham on Sunday could do wonders for building momentum to end the year. The Villans will lean on star player Morgan Rogers to spark an attack that has only scored three goals in their last four Premier League games. Emery will also be hoping Ollie Wakins can regain his goalscoring form starting on Sunday.

Fresh off an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend and unbeaten in their last three matches in all competitions, West Ham will aim to continue their push for Premier League survival. They'll likely make life difficult for Aston Villa by being tough to break down defensively and being swift and lethal on the counter. Captain and main man Jarrod Bowen will be critical in leading the line for the Hammers and creating chances for striker Valentin Castellanos. If West Ham can survive an early onslaught from the Villans, they should be able to grow into the game and try to steal all three points away from home.

Fantasy Premier League players to watch in Aston Villa vs. West Ham

Jarrod Bowen

If West Ham is going to score against Aston Villa on Sunday, Bowen will likely be involved. He has four assists in his last five Premier League matches and is a consistent goal threat. Not to mention Bowen is on set pieces for West Ham and is the penalty taker for the Hammers, giving him plenty of opportunities to accumulate points. He has also proven capable of earning points from defensive contributions.

Morgan Rogers

Rogers has been quiet of late, earning two or less points in his last five matches. Yet, he is the Villans’ most threatening attacking option and he will create chances for his team in front of goal. Despite his recent struggles, Rogers is worth starting this weekend in lineups with a home matchup against a team in the relegation zone.

Malick Diouf

Operating as left wing-back for West Ham while being classified as a defender, Diouf has potential to receive points through a clean sheet and defensive contributions, as well as going forward with assists. West Ham has two clean sheets in their last four games, and Diouf has five assists so far this season.
