"[Series creator, showrunner and writer Bekah Brunstetter] and I always closed our eyes and think about what would be a surprising billboard where you had five unexpected faces," executive producer Minkie Spiro, who directed Episodes 1, 2, 5, and 6, told NBC Insider. "Because that was the thing I really wanted to do: Surprise an audience to want to lean and go, 'whoa, I never imagined Chloë Sevigny next to Jennifer Garner, next to Regina Hall, D'arcy...' And that, to us, was paramount."

Jennifer Garner as Hollis Shaw
Jennifer Garner rose to fame as spy Sydney Bristow on J.J. Abrams' Alias series, for which she earned four Emmy nominations and won a Golden Globe. Among her long list of credits, she's starred in movies such as 13 Going on 30, Daredevil and Elektra, Juno, and Yes Day, and shows like The Last Thing He Told Me.
Garner plays Hollis Shaw, a famous cookbook author. Struggling to recover from the sudden death of her husband, she invites her daughter and three friends from different times in her life — her childhood, her twenties, and her thirties — plus one unexpected guest.
