Stars of Peacock's ted Go Inside Hilarious "Dungeons and Dealers" Episode (EXCLUSIVE)
Actors Max Burkholder, Giorgia Whigham, and Scott Grimes scored some experience points together.
If you're a fan of Seth MacFarlane's televisions shows, then you know at some point in the run he's going to drop in a high concept episode or two.
For Season 2 of ted (now streaming on Peacock), look no further than Episode 3, "Dungeons and Dealers," where the whole Bennett clan and Ted the talking teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) end up playing a Dungeons & Dragons (or D&D) campaign together.

On the hunt for more weed, Johnny (Max Burkholder), Ted, and Blaire (Giorgia Whigham) coerce Chris Bleth (played by real Dimension 20 gamemaster Brennan Lee Mulligan), a local pot dealer and D&D Dungeon Master (or DM), into a "Best the Quest" challenge. If they can beat Chris' campaign, he will give them their weed for free. To build out their party, Susan (Alanna Ubach) and Matty (Scott Grimes) join the basement games too, and then it gets really weird.
Peacock Blog rolled the dice with the cast and got some great stories from Burkholder, Whigham, and Grimes about making "Dungeons and Dealers."
ted's Giorgia Whigham and Scott Grimes reveal their D&D experiences
As soon as Chris begins his campaign in "Dungeons and Dealers," the dysfunctional Bennett family get whisked into a world full of mages, bards, and orcs. They start in costume at a tavern, travel through a magical forest, and fight foes. Then Susan makes friends with a hell demon.
As a long-time collaborator of MacFarlane, Grimes said he's now used to opening new scripts featuring bizarre concepts. "You know there's going to be this kind of episode that goes outside the box, which is the family going into a D&D world. But why can't I be the cool knight?" Grimes complained.
"Not with [Seth]." Grimes continued. "He says, 'Grimes has got to have a bald spot and look like Friar Tuck.' Can I be cool once in my life...God no!"

Much like Blaire, Whigham said she went into the episode knowing nothing about D&D, so she just immersed herself in the world. "I am a huge fantasy lover, and I'm a huge playing pretend lover so it was really, really, really cool," she said. "As a whole, the process of getting the outfit which was handmade to our bodies, just the whole collaborative process, the hair, the makeup, it was all really well thought out."
Grimes agreed and said the episode was "awesome" in every way. "We worked hard on that episode. We put a lot of hours on that one, and it was awesome. And I give a shout out to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the guy that is the D&D Master. That whole episode relies on his knowledge in real life and he was a master. We loved making that episode."
ted Season 2 star Max Burkholder on sharing his love of D&D with the rest of the cast
As the only main cast member who loves D&D, Burkholder said he was beyond excited to make this episode. He even tried to share his love of the game with the cast and crew with underwhelming results.
"I tried to organize a session with me and the cast, with me as the DM," he said. "And like many DMs — and people who love to play D&D will very much understand — it never came together. I really tried to set it up. We had a couple dates but it never came together. I helped them make their characters. It was a whole thing."

However, Burkholder said the next best thing was sharing screen time with Brennan Lee Mulligan, who has a huge following with social media D&D online campaign productions.
"I am a huge fan of Critical Role and Dimension 20 and Worlds Beyond Number, so having Brennan Lee Mulligan there playing the DM, like I don't know if everybody else noticed, but I was the most quiet I've ever been on the days when he was on set," he laughed. "I was the most quiet I've ever been on set because I was just like, 'Holy s---, he's right there! Don't say anything f---ing stupid!'"
