February's going to be a very busy month for NBC Sports. Extensive, 'round the clock coverage of the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics starts February 6, along with Super Bowl LX on February 8. But even the biggest sporting events in the world won't stop the NBA on NBC from bringing you the hottest basketball action from around the league.

This week's Peacock NBA Monday doubleheader features a pair of interesting matchups crossing the Eastern and Western conferences. We begin, interestingly, in the West, as the Minnesota Timberwolves head to Memphis to take on the Grizzlies. Then, it's a cross-conference showdown as the Philadelphia 76ers head to Los Angeles to face the Clippers. Let's take a closer look at what's ahead.

What to expect from Peacock NBA Monday this week

James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers drives to the net between Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles of the Toronto Raptors.

The Timberwolves have been on a tear lately, led by Anthony Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, and other stars. They've put up an impressive string of wins, including an upset of the dominant Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this month, and they're firmly in the playoff hunt right now. Contrast that with the Grizzlies, who've struggled so far this season in part due to injury issues with star Ja Morant. When Morant's healthy, he's a contributor, but right now it's looking like elbow issues will keep him out for much of February. Throw in injuries to Zach Edey, who's expected to sit until March, and the Grizzlies are somewhat hobbled. They do have the home court advantage, though, so don't be surprised to see fireworks.

Out West, the Clippers have risen from a major season-starting slump to one of the hottest teams in the West. They were dominant throughout most of January on the strength of Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, and while they haven't entirely dug themselves out of a losing record yet, they're back in playoff contention. They face a 76ers squad led by Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid, who've basically been in the playoff hunt all season long. They're not the dominant force that a team like the Pistons has been so far this season in the East, but they're definitely tough, and this has the potential to be an all-out thriller to close out Monday night.
