Bournemouth will play Man United Saturday at 12:30p ET on Peacock and NBC.

Manchester United travels to the south coast of England to avenge their 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth earlier in the season. Join Peacock and NBC on Saturday for the late-season duel at Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth v. Man United

Bournemouth has been on an excellent run of form since the beginning of March. The team has won four of their last six games with shutouts against Burnley and Crystal Palace and a pair of climactic home triumphs against Everton and Luton Town. Though the Cherries lost a rematch with the Hatters 2–1 last weekend at Kenilworth Road, their next game is against a Man United side they decisively dismantled at Old Trafford in December. Bournemouth earned an early lead after striker Dominic Solanke scored off a cross by defensive midfielder Lewis Cook and ensured their victory with headed goals from Philip Billing and Marcos Senesi in the second half. The club sits at 12th in the standings and is intent on finishing the year in the top half of the table, a feat Bournemouth has not achieved in the top flight since 2017. Bournemouth’s current tally of 41 points already exceeds their final total from last season, and they don’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.

Andoni Iraola has brought out the best in his players since his appointment as manager last June. Solanke has had an exceptional year with 16 goals to his name. He has asserted himself as one of the most devastating attackers in the league and is making his case for why he should be selected for the English squad in UEFA Euro 2024. The striker’s scoring chances are bolstered by Justin Kluivert in the midfield, who scored the game-winning goal against Crystal Palace in Bournemouth’s last home match. Look for Ukranian international Illia Zabarnyi to fortify the back line while veteran shot stopper Neto captains the Cherries from the goal line.

Bournemouth will be without several of their players for Saturday’s tie. Iraola announced that striker Antoine Semenyo sustained a minor calf injury and that midfielder Marcus Tavernier will be out for the foreseeable future after injuring his hamstring last week. The Cherries will rely on Dango Ouattara and Enes Ünal in their teammates’ absence. Rounding out the list of unavailable players are Tyler Adams, Chris Mepham, Ryan Fredericks, and Luis Sinisterra.

Manchester United’s last result was a 2–2 draw against Liverpool at Old Trafford that lived up to its billing as one of England’s most entertaining rivalries. Despite entering the second half with a one-goal deficit, the Red Devils equalized in stunning fashion after Bruno Fernandes pounced on a Liverpool mistake to score an outrageous goal from the center circle. Kobbie Mainoo gave United the lead with a stunning curled shot that made him the youngest player in the club’s history to score a Premier League goal against Liverpool. United are 6th in the table, and a win on Saturday would be a major step in closing the 11-point gap that separates them from Tottenham and Aston Villa.

United’s breadth of scoring threats in the final third are what make them such a difficult side to defend against. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Højlund have tallied seven goals each as manager Erik ten Hag’s preferred attacking options, while captain Bruno Fernandes looks to add to his impressive six goals and six assists this season. Kobbie Mainoo hopes to build upon his spectacular performances in defensive midfield alongside the experienced Casemiro. United fans will be excited to see academy graduate Willy Kambwala line up in defense after the center back held his own against Liverpool last week. Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana is the only player on the team who has started in every league game this season, and he will be keen on maintaining a clean sheet after allowing three Bournemouth goals in the last matchup.

No other Premier League side has faced an injury dilemma as devastating as Man United, and the club will miss an array of noteworthy players that include Raphaël Varane, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martínez, Victor Lindelöf, Anthony Martial, and Scott McTominay. Marcus Rashford is also doubtful to appear, meaning that Brazilian winger Antony may be a part of the starting eleven come Saturday.
