How to Watch

Stream Twisted Metal exclusively on Peacock.

Based on the hit video game series of the same name, Twisted Metal is set in a post-apocalyptic world where racers compete in a killer tournament to see which car will be the last one standing after a series of races and challenges. It stars Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz as drivers trying to survive this wasteland, and features the massive Joe Seanoa as the killer clown Sweet Tooth (voiced by Will Arnett).

Mark Hamill joins Twisted Metal

Iconic science fiction star Mark Hamill, best known to genre fans for portraying Luke Skywalker over the past few decades in the Star Wars saga, has signed on in a recurring role to portray the new character Pope Charlie Kane in Season 3 of Peacock’s Twisted Metal.

Hamill has been a Hollywood mainstay for pretty much his entire career, from his role in Star Wars to voice work in the Batman animated franchise as the Joker, and a role in the Oscar-nominated The Wild Robot. More recently, Hamill starred opposite Tom Hiddleston in Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck, and had a memorable role in The Long Walk, another recent Stephen King adaptation.

“For Mark Hamill to come into this world with us is amazing,” Mackie, who's also an executive producer on the show, said in a statement. “He’s someone I’ve admired for a long time - a true legend who’s influenced generations of actors. Being able to now call him a castmate is an incredible honor, and we’re excited to see what he brings to the world of Twisted Metal.”

Who is Pope Charlie Kane? Mark Hamill’s Twisted Metal role explained

The end of Twisted Metal’s second season set up a post-credit tease with Sweet Tooth presumably heading off to potentially meet up with his estranged father. Which brings us right around to Hamill’s role: Pope Charlie Kane is the leader of the Eastern Sovereignty territory and Sweet Tooth’s father.

The character of Charlie Kane dates all the way back to the very first Twisted Metal video game in 1995, and has been a consistent part of the franchise throughout its various video game sequels.

The third season of Twisted Metal is slated to run for 10 episodes, with Mackie, Beatriz, Seanoa and Arnett back as the show’s lead stars. Plus, we can now add Hamill to the ensemble in a recurring role.
