The 2025-26 NBA season is almost here, and even more exciting, it’s coming to NBC and Peacock. We can’t wait until Tip-Off on Oct 21, but there are a couple opportunities to get the hype going before that. Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
The first of two preseason games brings us to Cleveland, OH, where the Chicago Bulls take on the hometown Cavaliers. The Bulls finished 39–43 last season and made the Play-In tournament, though a first-stage loss to Miami made them miss the playoffs. That’s been the story in Chicago for the last three seasons, and they’re hoping to break into the playoffs proper this time. They have a real shot at doing that with some serious talent at guard, including Coby White, who's seeking a big payday next summer, and Josh Giddey, who just re-signed on a four-year $100 million deal. The Bulls are a young team with a potentially bright future, and it could all start with a preseason win in Cleveland.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are coming off a phenomenal season where they started 15–0 and finished 64–18. They were first in the Eastern Conference and made it to the conference semifinals before being knocked out of the playoffs by eventual runner-up Indiana. For this season’s push, the team will look a little different. Gone are shooting guards Ty Jerome and Javonte Green as well as power forward Chuma Okeke. Joining the team in their place are center Thomas Bryant, power forward Larry Nance Jr., and point guard Lonzo Ball, acquired in a trade from the Chicago Bulls, adding a fun wrinkle to this preseason contest. The Cavs also re-signed shooting guard Sam Merrill to a four-year $38 million contract. These Cavs have loaded up with both offensive and defensive talent, and they’re aiming for the Finals.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Milwaukee Bucks
The second preseason matchup on Peacock takes us to Milwaukee, WI where the Oklahoma City Thunder will take on the hometown Bucks. The Thunder are the reigning NBA Champions after beating the Indiana Pacers in a hard-fought Game 7. They had the best regular-season record as well, finishing 68–14. All last season, Oklahoma City was nearly unstoppable. There’s reason to believe not much will change this coming year. 14 players from that championship team are coming back this season, and as this is still one of the youngest teams in the league, they could be even better this year. Are we about to see the first repeat champions since 2018? This squad makes us think so.
The Milwaukee Bucks improved on a slow start to last season and ended up 48–34, making the playoffs. Unfortunately for them, they lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round. The Bucks hope to go further than the first round of the playoffs this season but will have to do so without point guard Damian Lillard. To help fill the gap, they brought in center Myles Turner and will be relying on last season’s signings of point guard Kevin Porter Jr., and small forward Kyle Kuzma. Of course, we can’t forget power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo. Much of Milwaukee's offseason work was designed to build the best possible team around the superstar, including signing his brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo. The Bucks have a real chance to nab another NBA Championship, and they’re doing everything they can to capitalize on it.
