The NBA is LIVE on NBC and Peacock. Catch a weekly Tuesday night doubleheader on Coast 2 Coast Tuesday all regular season long. The second matchup of this week’s doubleheader takes us to San Francisco, CA where the Los Angeles Clippers will take on the Golden State Warriors

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Golden State Warriors

The Clippers (2–1,) opened the season with a 129–108 loss to the Utah Jazz, but quickly bounced back with wins over their next two opponents. In their home opener, they delivered a huge 129–102 win over the Phoenix Suns and kept the party going Sunday night with a 114–107 win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Guard James Harden and forward Kawhi Leonard have been phenomenal so far with Harden putting in a field goal percentage of 66.7 against the Suns and Leonard putting together a double-double against Portland. Chris Paul returned to L.A. Friday night after a few years away from the team. His minutes are relatively limited so far, but he’ll be eager to make a bigger impact as the season goes on. The Clippers are on a two-game winning streak, and would like to keep it that way, but the Warriors will put up a tougher test than their last two opponents. So far though, the Clippers have shown they’re a team you can never count out. Even if they’re down double digits, once the defense locks in, they can make any team pay for getting too comfortable. They’re also coming off a night’s rest, so they’ll have that advantage going into this one. If Harden and Leonard stay on track, the Clippers can net their third straight win on Tuesday night.

The Warriors (2–1) beat the Lakers 119–109 in the NBA Tip-Off last week. They followed up that performance with a 137–131 victory over the Nuggets, but an upset road loss to the Trail Blazers ended their early winning streak. Now, they’re back at home, preparing for a tough battle against the Clippers on Coast 2 Coast Tuesday. They also have a game Monday night against the Timberwolves, whereas L.A. has the night off. That’s not always a big difference maker at the NBA level, but it can be a factor. This Warriors team is loaded with veteran players and a whole lot of talent. Steph Curry is still knocking down threes, with a 52.5 field goal percentage and 33.3 points per game. He’s not slowing down one bit, and he has the supporting cast around him to take this team far once again. Jimmy Buttler III has 22 points per game, and keeps the ball in Golden State’s possession more often than not. Meanwhile, Al Horford and Draymond Green have been as reliable as ever for the team. The team has struggled on defense for these first few games, which could be a vulnerability against a fresh Clippers team on Tuesday. If they can hold together though, we know this team can put up points like almost no other. That could be all they need to secure the victory on Coast 2 Coast Tuesday.
