Milwaukee Bucks vs. Cleveland Cavaliers
With games against the Hornets Friday night in the NBA Cup and against the Lakers on Saturday before this one, the Milwaukee Bucks are in the midst of a tough period in their schedule. Doc Rivers’ men are 2–3 in their last five games and most recently lost to the Hornets 111–100 on Wednesday. Giannis Antetokounmpo missed that game due to injury and he is currently listed as probable for their important Friday night NBA Cup matchup. The Bucks will want to be careful monitoring the health of their star player, who is already averaging an astounding 33.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game. If he’s cleared for their game against the Hornets, the Bucks will be hopeful he can take on the Cavs on Monday night. Guard Ryan Rollins has made a big jump this season, averaging 17.3 points and 5.7 assists on the year. His continued improvement will be crucial in taking some pressure off of Antetokounmpo’s shoulders on offense. Rollins, along with Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma will be vital to this team’s success going forward. The Cavs will be a great test for the Bucks in measuring whether or not this team is ready to make a deep run in the playoffs after first-round exits in the past three seasons.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently 8–5 and 4th place in the Eastern Conference. After defeating the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, the Cavs were soundly beaten by the Raptors on Thursday 126–113. They will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday before taking on the Bucks on Monday night. After claiming the first seed in the East last season, coach Kenny Atkinson is eager to follow up that success with a deeper run in the playoffs this season. He had to deal with an injury to star point guard Darius Garland early this year, who re-aggravated his toe injury last Monday against the Heat. He is currently listed as day-to-day so it’s unclear whether he’ll be ready for the matchup against the Bucks. His partner in crime Donovan Mitchell has been superb yet again to start the season. He’s averaging 30.5 points and 5.5 assists so far and the Cavs will rely on his scoring to continue leading their offense. Fresh off his Defensive Player of the Season award in 2025, Evan Mobley has made a jump offensively this season, averaging 19 points a game. If he can maintain this offensive production for the rest of the year and into the postseason, the Cavs will be excited to have another scorer that can complement Mitchell. Behind these two, in addition to Garland when he returns, the Cavs have a strong starting five with Jarrett Allen andDeandre Hunter. With the summer acquisition of Lonzo Ball, who is still finding his form after an extended period of injuries, the Cavaliers have constructed a powerful roster that is capable of challenging anybody come April if fully healthy.
