Seth MacFarlane on ted Animated Series: “It’s Been Fun For Me Because…”
Here's what has Seth MacFarlane excited about his ted animated series.
The second season of Seth MacFarlane’s hit comedy series ted is streaming now on Peacock, but if you’re looking for more adventures with everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed teddy bear, don’t worry — there’s already a follow-up on the way.
So what has MacFarlane so excited about the next chapter in his wild, wacky ted saga? That’d be the new animated series in the works at Peacock, which picks up the action in the modern day after the events of the first two big screen ted movies.
The new animated ted series is being run by Brad Walsh and Paul Corrigan, who also worked on the live action version of the series alongside MacFarlane. In addition to working on the live action ted prequel, the duo have a sterling comedy career working on Modern Family (also streaming on Peacock), before tackling ted.

“They come off of Modern Family with their pile of Emmys, so we’re in good hands,” MacFarlane told The Hollywood Reporter about the project. “They’ve done a phenomenal job of picking up where the last movie left off and continuing the story and making it feel like something that is completely new and completely fresh, and yet at the same time, very faithful to the ted universe.”
What excites Seth MacFarlane for ted animated series
With the animated ted series now up and running in production, MacFarlane said he is most excited to be able to let the creative team go off and do their work, allowing him to see the jokes and storylines fresh as a “fan” himself.

"It’s been fun for me because the way I work, with a show that I’m not directly running, is I’ll help get it off the ground, and then I step away and let it take its own course,” MacFarlane explained. “If the people running it are the right people — which, in this case, they are — you get to read these scripts and laugh out loud as a viewer and come at it from an objective standpoint. What they have cooked up is really funny, and I think people are going to love it.”
The animated series will expand the ted series further into the modern-day, after the two-season animated series served as prequel following young Johnny and Ted during their high school years. To that end, the animated series will feature the voice work of original film stars and new additions including Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Barth, Kyle Mooney, and Liz Richman.
No word yet on when the ted animated series will premiere, but in the meantime comedy fans can always dig into the first two seasons of the ted prequel series right here on Peacock.
