The Green Bay Packers will play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football on Peacock and NBC.

Sunday Night Football is home to some of the most thrilling matchups of the NFL season. Every week, two of the league’s toughest teams face off in primetime on Sunday’s biggest stage. This week brings the action to Minneapolis, MN, where the Green Bay Packers will take on the Minnesota Vikings.

Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

The Packers (7–8, 3rd in NFC North) have weathered their first season without Aaron Rodgers at Quarterback surprisingly well. Whether they have a third Hall-of-Fame QB in a row remains to be seen, but there’s plenty to like about Jordan Love already. He’s thrown 27 touchdowns so far this season and only 11 interceptions. No wonder this team has won some big games. The season has had its ups and downs, but that’s to be expected of a team rebuilding around a new QB. The bright spots for this season have been very bright. In November, the Packers beat both the Kansas City Chiefs 27–19 and the division-leading Detroit Lions 29–22. Back-to-back wins against teams like that aren’t flukes. This is a team that knows what its future looks like and knows how to get there. This may not be the lengthy slump the rest of the NFC North was hoping for after Rodgers’ departure. What’s held this team back in recent months has been injuries. This is a talented young offense, but for the last few weeks, they’ve been operating at less than full capacity. Tight End Luke Musgrave is out, as are Wide Receivers Christian Watson and Dontayvion Wicks. They could still be out this Sunday, which would make things difficult against a divisional rival who’s already beaten them once this season. Still, this is a must-win game if the Packers want to see the postseason, and Love has come in clutch during high-pressure situations like this. This is a Packers team that doesn’t give up, and they’ll be coming out swinging in Minnesota on Sunday night.

The Vikings (7–8, 2nd in AFC North) have the same record as the Packers going into Week 17, though tiebreakers put them ahead. Just like the Packers, this is a must-win game if they want to see the playoffs. This season proved to be a tough road for the Vikings. After losing Quarterback Kirk Cousins in Week 8 to a torn Achilles tendon, Joshua Dobbs took over for four weeks. At first, Dobbs was the breakout star of the NFL season, beating the Falcons and Saints back-to-back. After a less-than-stellar performance in a 3–0 win against the Raiders, Dobbs was benched for Nick Mullens. Now, after two straight losses, Mullens is on the bench and Rookie QB Jaren Hall will start against the Packers. Hall originally replaced Cousins back in Week 8, but suffered a concussion and had to be replaced by Dobbs. Now that Hall is healthy again, the Vikings are excited to see what he can do. Much like the Packers, the Vikings have also had some serious injury setbacks this season. Wide Receiver Jordan Addison has been unable to practice this week and may miss this crucial game. The team also lost Tight End T.J. Hockenson and cornerback Mekhi Blackmon. The Vikings may be ahead of the Packers right now, but they’re going into Sunday night without many of their best players. That uncertainty could put them at a disadvantage. Then again, this is a must-win game with a rookie QB that will be out to prove himself. Plus, they’ll have the home Minnesota crowd on their side against a longtime rival. With all that going for them, Sunday Night Football could be all purple this week.
