What to watch for in the Bucks vs. Hawks game on Peacock

Jalen Johnson of the Atlanta Hawks drives to the basket during the game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Both of these teams are under .500 with their overall records at this point in the season, but in the overall Eastern Conference standings, they're both also still in contention for the playoffs. The Hawks' record puts them in the Top 10 of the conference for the moment, play-in territory for the playoffs, while the Bucks are right outside that cutoff. That means that both teams are trying to hit a new level in 2026 to ensure they have a shot at the postseason, and if their records so far are any indication, they could very well be competing with each other for the final playoff spot. That means every game counts, and it especially counts when you're playing each other.

The Hawks have gotten by thanks to an offensive attack that ranks in the Top 10 of the league so far this season. Led by Jalen Johnson -- who's at the top of the team in points, rebounds, and assists -- the Hawks have put together some solid wins, but they still need something that'll help them get to the next level, and a home win against a tough Bucks team would be a good way to do that. On the other side of things, you've got perennial superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, who's putting up nearly 29 points per game at the helm of one of the most efficient offenses in the league in terms of field goal percentage. It's the Hawks' game to lose, but when Giannis turns it on, just about anything can happen.
