Captain Holt

New York City has never been in better hands than in the capable grasp of Captain Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher). While the straight-faced captain is at the mercy of his officers’ pranks, he always knows how to save the day (and put the criminals away)!

Underneath his stern exterior, Captain Holt shaped his officers to be some of the greatest to wear the badge while putting his all into each case to hit his desk, so we’re celebrating five of Captain Holt’s most legendary moments in the 99th Precinct.

Holt's Balloon Arch: “Monsters in the Closet”  (Season 4 Episode 6)

Captain Holt always comes through for his officers, and as Detective Rosa's (Stephanie Beatriz) wedding date approaches, he decides to give her a gift from the heart. Holt believes his hand-made balloon arch will blow away the bride-to-be, even as Detective Amy (Melissa Fumero) tries to tell him otherwise.

Holt Gets Vengeance for His Fluffy Boy: “Ransom” (Season 7 Episode 12)

Holt proves that he doesn’t mess around when it comes to his beloved corgi, Cheddar. After kidnappers get their hands on the precious pooch, Captain Holt heroically takes down the armed robber with his own two hands to get vengeance on behalf of his furbaby.

Holt Reacts to Wuntch’s Death: “Ding Dong” (Season 7 Episode 7)

While Captain Holt had his fair share of clever nemeses, none have gotten under his skin like Captain Madeline Wuntch (Kyra Sedgwick). After hearing that the wicked Wuntch is dead, Holt congratulates his team and tosses bagels to everyone in the department. We’ll never stop cackling.

Holt Hula Hooping: “Unsolvable” (Season 1 Episode 21)

Captain Holt isn’t always the one to put an end to the precinct’s antics. After the crew guesses about how he injured his wrist, Holt confesses that it was a hula-hooping mishap only to Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg). But pulling the ultimate prank on the young detective, Holt deletes the evidence of his waist-shaking antics, gleefully leaving Peralta the only officer cursed with knowing the truth.

Straight Holt: “Coral Palms: Part 1” (Season 4 Episode 1)

Captain Holt, who is happily married to his husband Kevin, is forced to pose as a straight man while in witness protection. Under his many new aliases, the captain tries to talk about female relationships to keep up his persona. His hilarious lack of knowledge about women keeps us all in stitches.
