Sunday Night Football is home to some of the most thrilling matchups of the NFL season. Every week, two of the league’s toughest teams face off in primetime on Sunday’s biggest stage. This week brings the action to Green Bay, WI, where the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the hometown Packers.

The Chiefs (8–3, 1st in AFC West) remain a phenomenal team that’s fun to watch week after week. Even those of us who root for other teams can’t be mad that the Chiefs keep winning because they make it look so fun. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to make passes that look like magic. Tight End Travis Kelce can turn any situation into a big play and looks like he’s having the time of his life every game. He’s now the fastest tight end to reach 11,000 receiving yards in NFL history. The defense is no slouch either. This is a team that loves to run the blitz and they do it well. They keep the pressure up on every play and give opposing QBs almost no time to make a decision. They’re a tough team to beat on both sides of the ball. And yet, three teams have done it. Most recently the Eagles, who have still only lost once this season. Another was a 24–9 upset by the Broncos who kept the Chiefs out of the endzone for the entire game. Turnovers and dropped passes have been a problem for the 2023 Chiefs, especially late in the game. In three games so far this season, those have killed any second-half momentum the Chiefs had built up. What has happened more often though, is the Chiefs run up the score enough to negate those issues. If they’re able to do that on Sunday, Mahomes will walk out with his first Lambeau W.

The Packers (5-6, 3rd in NFC North) are coming off back-to-back wins and are hoping to make it a third at home this weekend. Quarterback Jordan Love’s first season as the starter has had a few ups and downs, but he’s started to see a lot more ups in recent weeks. He is growing comfortably into the position and looked stellar in Green Bay’s 29–22 win over the Lions on Thanksgiving. Considering the injuries this team has dealt with this season, that’s impressive. He’s been getting tons of help from rookie Wide Receiver Jayden Reed. Reed suffered an injury against the Chargers two weeks ago. It has kept him out of practices, but so far, not out of games, catching a touchdown pass against Detroit last week. He’s hoping to get on the field again this Sunday night, which would come as a huge relief for all Green Bay fans. There’s no question this will be a tough game for the Packers, but they’ll have the advantage of the hometown crowd behind them. Lambeau field isn’t an easy place for visiting teams to win. This will be Patrick Mahomes’ first time in front of them, and he’ll be doing it in Wisconsin winter weather. That’s not a friendly combination and it could give Green Bay the edge on Sunday night.
