Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson compete on Sunday Night Football: Chiefs vs. Giants LIVE at 7p ET on Peacock and NBC

The biggest games of the NFL season are on Sunday Night Football. Every week, you can catch must-see matchups LIVE after the rest of Sunday’s action has concluded. This season, Sunday Night Football takes us to Meadowlands, NJ where the Kansas City Chiefs will face the New York Giants.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Giants

The Chiefs (0–2, 4th in AFC West) have not had the start to the season we’re used to seeing from them. Don’t go raising alarm bells just yet. As we’ve learned from the last half-decade of football, it’s always a mistake to count the Chiefs out completely. Patrick Mahomes is still quarterback, and he’s still capable of carrying this team into the endzone. When he has the ball, he’s capable of putting together astounding plays almost no one else in the league can. The main issues have been getting Mahomes and his receivers on the same page. Those are the kinds of issues that can be fixed with playing time. The longer this Chiefs team plays together, the better they’ll become. Especially if tight end Travis Kelce can find his groove and become the explosive pass-catcher we know he can be. By the end of the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were back to being world-beaters. There’s still a lot of season to turn things around, and even in their loss to the Eagles last week, the Chiefs were visibly improving. The defense held the Eagles to just two touchdowns and two field goals, keeping the Chiefs in the game through all four quarters. If they can keep up that pace, they could come out of Sunday night with the kind of win that turns the whole season around.

The Giants (0–2, 4th in NFC East) have the same record as their opponents through two weeks, losing their first two games. It probably stings a little more that both losses came to NFC East rivals. With new quarterback Russell Wilson at the helm, Big Blue was certainly hoping for better results, but things may be looking up. Despite losing to the Cowboys last week, the Giants kept the game exciting. Wilson was playing nearly as well as he did a decade ago. He made big plays with his feet. His signature high arcing passes found receivers far down the field. That is, until late in overtime when a miscommunication ended in one of those passes being intercepted, all but sealing the game for the Cowboys. Despite the result, there was a real spark in the Giants’ offense this game. Wide receiver Malik Nabers is dangerous when he and Wilson are able to link up. If they can establish a rhythm together, and if the defense can shut plays down on their end, the Giants might send the Chiefs back to Kansas City with a third loss.
