The biggest games of the NFL season are on Sunday Night Football. Every week, you can catch must-see matchups LIVE after the rest of Sunday’s action has concluded. This week, Sunday Night Football takes us to Landover, MD where the Denver Broncos will face the Washington Commanders

Denver Broncos vs. Washington Commanders

The Broncos (9–2, 1st in AFC West) have a comfortable lead at the top of their division, but they can't rest just yet. With the Chargers and the Chiefs putting wins together late in the season, the Broncos can’t afford to drop too many games even as we enter December. Denver hopes to bring their win total into double digits when they head out on a Thanksgiving weekend road trip for Sunday Night Football. This team hasn’t lost a game since September, and now that they’ve had a week off, they have a real shot at not just the AFC West title, but the No. 1 seed in the conference. Before we get there though, the Broncos have to keep playing the high-level football that’s defined this season. Quarterback Bo Nix has gotten better each week. He can take a few snaps to get settled into a game, but once he does, he’s been unstoppable. He’s thrown for 2,421 yards and 18 touchdowns this season. With a strong offensive line in front of him, Nix has taken full advantage of the talented wide receivers at his disposal like Troy Frankoin and Courtland Sutton. On defense the Broncos have one of the best units in the league, with 49 sacks so far. This team is built like a steamroller, and assuming they’re still at full speed after last week’s bye, there will be no slowing them down on Sunday night.

The Commanders (3–8, 3rd in NFC East) have experienced a run of bad luck that they would love to see end this weekend. Their last win was on Oct 5 when they stunned the Chargers 27–10. Since then, they’ve been beset by injuries to key wide receivers and quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels already missed a few games early in the season with an injured hamstring and has now been sidelined with an elbow injury since the beginning of November. He returned to practice this week but is still listed as questionable against the Broncos. In his place, Marcus Mariota has taken the helm, throwing for 1,065 yards and 7 touchdowns in the seven games he’s had to play this season. Mariota is a fine backup option, but the Commanders have struggled to win games without Daniels. If Daniels returns, that could be the fire this offense needs to snap their losing streak at home on Sunday night. If he doesn’t, which is looking like the more likely scenario at time of writing, it’ll be on the defense to contain an explosive Broncos offense. There is a path to victory here. If the defense can slow the pace of the game and get to Bo Nix before he can get the ball out, they can stop the Broncos offense in its tracks. Do that, and this game belongs to Washington.
